Today on our 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan we’re doing a test fit of the Thule T2 Pro platform style 2 bike rack. That part number is TH9034. We already have our bike secured down. We’re going to come here to the back and squeeze our handle together. That’s going to allow us to tilt our bike rack, fully loaded, away from our vehicle. Then we’re going to gain almost full access here.

We’re going to actually make contact with our handlebars if we open this any more. Our handlebars, we actually have about 9 inches from the center of our handlebars to the outermost edge, so just keep that in mind. With your bars you might make contact earlier at a different spot. If you have someone hold on to your door you might be able to gain some access and pull anything in or out that you may need. As for how our bike is secured down, here at the back we have a ratchet strap. We’re going to loosen that up and it would just ratchet down.

Loosen it by pushing down on the gray portion. At the front we have a wheel hook which sits either in front of our brakes or in front of our frame depending on how our bike is made. It has that integrated cable lock as well to help prevent theft and tampering. We push on our gray button to loosen it and push straight down to tighten that up. Now we can pull our bike off and set it off to the side.

Then I like to fold my hook over so it’s out of the way. Take a few measurements here. First is going to be overall what we’re adding to our vehicle. We’re going to have about 37 inches added. Our ground clearance is going to be about 20 1/4 inches. Closest point is about 3 1/2 inches and from the center of our hitch pin hole to our closest point we’re going to have about 10 inches.

Now, in this position we would be able to gain that full access to our back half but we’re just going to move on. Squeezing that handle once again we’re going to fold this up against our vehicle. We’re not going to have to worry about our closest point in this position because we do have a lot of room in between our vehicle and our bike rack. It’s really solid. We’re not going to have any movement to where we’d have to be concerned about that. A few more measurements here. We’ve got about 15 3/4 inches added to our vehicle now and a ground clearance of about 10 1/4 inches. As for our hitch, this is designed to work with 2 inch hitches only. We have our auto pin that automatically inserts into our hitch pin hole on the opposite side then we have our anti-rattle device. This tightens everything inside the shank up against the wall of the shank to help prevent any shake or play, then we have the option to lock it as well which will help prevent theft or tampering. You’ll see we don’t have any shake or play there with that anti-rattle device tightened down. That’s going to be our completed look at the Thule T2 Pro platform style 2 bike rack, part number TH9034, on our 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. First we’ll take it onto our slalom course. This will show you the side to side action such as making turns or evasive maneuvers. Now we’re at the alternating speed bumps. This will show you how it looks driving on uneven pavement or potholes. Finally we’re at the solid speed bumps which simulates going into your driveway or parking lots.
