Speaker 1: Today at our 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan, we’re going to be test fitting the 24 by 60 Curt Cargo Carrier for two-inch hitches. Part number C18153. Here we have it installed on our Caravan. Let’s go ahead and take a closer look at it here.This does have the carrying capacity of 500 pounds. It has this nice mesh floor here, and it’s going to make it easy to clean. It also has this railing all the way around the cargo carrier which can serve as tie down points for either your ratchet straps, or your bungee cords.

From the outer edge of our cargo carrier to the edge of our bumper there, we’ve added about 39 inches to the rear of the vehicle. For our ground clearance that’s going to be around 16 inches. Our closest point, about 13 and 1/2 inches.Now, there’s also another measurement called the breakover point, and that’s going to be where your hatch would come into contact with whatever it is your hauling. Now, of course with nothing in it, we have full access to our rear hatch, but with our breakover point, it looks like that’s going to be about 19 and 1/2 inches, so just keep that in mind when you’re loading up your gear.Also, the exhaust is going to be on the passenger side here, but as you can see it’s going to face down away from the cargo carrier, and plus with it’s raised shank it shouldn’t be an issue with any heat sensitive materials that you’re going to be loading up.Another nice feature about this, is that it can fold up against the vehicle when it’s not in use, and this is to free-up some space in the rear. We’ll pull this pin at the base here.

Re-insert the pin and clip, and you’re good to go. Again, with those measurements, now we’ve only added about 13 and 1/2 inches to the rear of the vehicle, and ground clearance is going to be about 11 and 3/4 inches, and our closest point is going to be about four and 1/2 inches to this edge here. How this attaches to the hitch, we’re just going to have a simple pin and clip, now this is not included, but you can find it on etrailer’s website, it’s part number PC3.Here at our test course, we’ll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we’ll see the twisting action.

This’ll simulate hitting a curb, or a pothole, or driving over uneven pavement. Once we get to the full speed bumps we’ll see an up and down action. This will be like driving in and out of a parking lot, or a garage, or a driveway at the curb side.There you have it for the Curt Cargo Carrier on our 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan.
