Anybody looking to change the ball joints on their 2nd gen Dodge 2500, whether it be a Cummins or a Gasser truck, Just know that the project can be quite frustrating. If you live in a northern state that gets snow and salty roads, and your truck has the smallest amount of rust on it, then trying to replace the wheel hub on a 2nd gen dodge is a pain in the ass to do. My 24 Valve Cummins Needed ball joints, wheel hub, and axle shaft u joint on the drivers side done asap, and i finally got to replacing everything this weekend. once you get the wheel hub off the steering knuckle then the ball joints are easy to press out and then press back in. Pressing or beating the u joint out of the yokes on the axle shaft is the next step that becomes a pain in the ass if you have any amount of rust on your truck. It CAN BE DONE though, and you DON’T need to pay a shop over a $1200 to replace ball joints, wheel hub, and axle shaft u joint on your dodge 2500. A little patience, big fucking hammer, and consistency go a long way when trying to do this job on your 2nd gen Dodge. Now I get to look forward to replacing the passenger side ball joints, wheel hub and axle u joint on my 2nd gen 24 valve Cummins next!
