This is a very common problem on Dodge ram 1500 on their blend door actuator ,when you can hear a banging sound that knocks inside the dashboard when first time turn on your ignition key, or even if you run your vehicle. and during the time when shift it or turns the knob of the blower switch it doesn’t want to transfer where you want the air goes through . because the blend door cannot flip anymore because the gear inside the actuator broke…
It is an easy fix and no need to take the whole dash out, no need to take off the center console too.. just you have to take apart the front facing plastic snapping mount holding the ac/heater switching knob and there are some few screws holding it and be careful not to break the plastic pieces during pulling it out.. good luck…
