Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Dodge Durango, we’re gonna be test fitting the Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System, and that’s gonna consist of part numbers, Y00426 and that’s gonna be our 60 inch crossbars we have up top. These also do come in silver under part number Y00429.Right here, we’re gonna have our baseline tower kit and that’s gonna be part number Y00146. Then under that, we have our fit kit for our naked roof and that’s gonna be part number Y06158.As you can see, these bars have a nice aerodynamic shape to them along with this rubber strip up top and that’s gonna help cut down on wind noise and drag while you’re traveling. Seeing that rubber strip, lets us know we can utilize T track accessories with our roof rack. How we do that, we’re simply gonna remove our end cap like so and unlike some systems where you might have to remove this strip and then cut it to length, with this strip, you simply just push down, insert whatever accessory you might like into the channel and then just slide it all the way across to whatever point you might like. Once you have that done, we can just replace our end cap and then we’re ready to go.If we come down to our tower, we’re simply gonna remove our end cap by pressing in both sides and pulling.
We’re gonna safely lift this gray tab up. That’s where our hook from our fit kit hooks into there and then it tightens down under our door frame. On the other side of the hook, there’s gonna be a nice rubber pad that’s gonna protect your door frame from any type of scratches or abrasions during installation and travel.Under our tower sitting on top of our roof is gonna be this nice rubber pad that’s gonna help also protect your vehicle from any type of damage. When we have it tightened down, you simply just fold down this gray tab, then put our end cap on ’til it snaps, and then we’re ready to go. We’re gonna notice right here, a nice pop lock.
Now that lets you know you can purchase separate lock cores and that’s gonna allow you to provide a more secure feature to your roof rack so that no one can remove it unless they have the key.How we got our front bar in place was first we measured from the top of our windshield to the edge of our tower the same length on both sides, and you can find this measurement in your instructions. Now I’m gonna show you guys how to fully assemble your back load bar and your back cross bar as well as show you everything that’s gonna come with your kit. As you can see, we have our second cross bar partially assembled. We have obviously our other cross bar. We have our other tower right here along with the two end caps for our towers.
The end cap for the other side of our bar. We have the two pieces right here that’s gonna help put our bar into place, or put our tower into place on the bar, and then we have the other part of our fit kit, along with our tightening tool.To start, we’re gonna go ahead and turn over our back cross bar. Now normally, there’s this nice rubber strip that fills in this entire channel and you would typically remove that, put your towers into place and then cut the strip to length and insert it to fill in the gap between the towers. For our purposes, we went ahead and we just removed the strip and we’re just not gonna deal with it right now.To start, we’re gonna grab our other tower and get it ready to be assembled. We’re first gonna take this black plastic piece.
I’m gonna insert it right there like so. We’re gonna take our metal piece now. We’re gonna insert it onto the bolt that’s on the inside of there. Once we have it lined up, we’re gonna hold it into place and flip it over. We’re gonna pull out that gray tab right there and that’s gonna open up a little slot to get our tightening tool in right there. And once you get your tightening tool in, we’re gonna start tightening the meta
