Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Dodge Durango we’re going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install T1 vehicle wiring harness with four poll flat trailer connectors. Part number 118617.This is what our wiring looks like when it’s installed. You can see you have plenty of extra to hook up to your trailer. It’s gonna give you all the proper lighting functions. It’s also gonna come with a dust cap. It’s gonna help keep the elements out of any of your connectors here, to help with corrosion.
We also have dialectic grease, which will also help prevent any corrosion. You can find that on Etrailer.com.The beginner instillation, we need to gain access through our hatch. And we’re gonna need to remove our driver and passenger tail lights. Gonna take a flat head screwdriver and you’re just gonna pull out these pushpins. Once you get the center out then you can pull this out of the housing.
Next thing we’re gonna do is you can take the trim panel tool, we’ll get it right behind the light. We’re just gonna gently start to pull backwards till it pops like that. Next we’re gonna remove the wiring. Gonna push down on this center tab here and pull out. We’re gonna do the same thing on the other side of the vehicle.Next thing I’m gonna do is I’m gonna take some airline hose and I’m gonna drop it right down behind the bumper here so it comes out of the bottom.
Now what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna take the end with the yellow and brown wire and we’re gonna tape it to our airline tube. And we’re gonna pull it back up through. You’re gonna have two ends, you can see one end looks like the end that you took off the light, so we’re gonna plug the other end into our existing wiring from the factory and we’re gonna take this end and we’re gonna plug it in to our tail light. Push in till you hear it click. Now we can put our tail light back in place. Here on our drivers side, what we’re gonna do next is we’re gonna mount the converter box.
We’re gonna take some rubbing alcohol, wipe off the box and we’re gonna wipe off the spot where we’re gonna put it. Right on the back side of this it’s nice and flat. In your kit you’ll get some double sided tape. Press it firmly into place. Next I’m gonna install my ground wire with my self tapping screw that comes with my kit, quarter inch socket. We’re gonna put it right here. Can you see this metal beveled here on the body of the carNext I’m gonna work on my power wire. Now your kits gonna come with buck connectors like this. Since this is gonna be living outside of the vehicle I’m gonna put heat shrink buck connectors on it to kind of protect the connections, to keep any moisture, water, dirt or anything like that out of it.Next we’re gonna take our power wire that we’re gonna be routing to the front, we’re gonna strip the end of it, and we’re gonna put it in the other end of our buck connector. Then we’ll take a heat gun and shrink this down. You want to make sure that your heat guns not pointed at anything plastic or anything that could melt. So we routed from the box and went back behind the bumper. You can see a brace here, went behind that, zip tied our wiring to that. I ran my four pole between the bumper and the hitch, ’cause it’s gonna mount right here. Ran my green wire across behind this place because ewe have the muffler here, there’s a bumper beam that we went up over the top of. We went up through the back of a bumper to the tail light housing. Same way we did on the drivers side. The way we routed our four pole, it’s gonna come out right here on the bracket on the hitch. So I just bundled what I had left right up here onto this brace and secured it to it with a zip tie.Now we’re gonna make our connections like we did on the drivers side to our existing wiring. The other end’s gonna go into the tail light. You can put your taillight back in place. Now we’ve gone ahead and routed our power wire up to the front of our vehicle. In doing that you want to make sure you stay away from any moving parts or any heat like your exhaust pipes. What I did, is I ran it through the frame, right over here on this side, on the drivers side here, I went over the top, you can see this brace here, went over the top of that, then over the top of this brace, right over to the side of our fuel tank, right up around, you can see this existing wiring here, factory wiring, I just zip tied along the inside of that. Now
