Today on our 2015 Dodge Durango, we’re going to be doing a test fit on the Thule Canyon Rooftop Mounted Cargo Basket. Part number TH859. This cargo basket’s going to measure 49 inches long, 40 inches wide, have a depth of 6 inches, and with the sturdy steel construction is going to offer a 150 pound weight capacity. We already have two of our feet in place, around our current crossbar. These are going to be your factory crossbars as well. Just note that it does come with multiple bolts and attachments so you can put it on your square bars, round bars, elliptical bars, aero-type bars and the factory ones like you see here. The first thing you are going to need to do, before you place it up on top of the vehicle, is space out your brackets to whatever the center-to-center crossbar spread is of your bars. If you just take a regular measuring tape, measure from one side, to the same point on the other side to get that distance.
Use the Allen Key, just to space them out and get them where you need them. Once you’re done, take your U-shaped bolt, place on two washers and two of the thumb screws. Again, there’s going to be different size U bolts for your different crossbars so you’ll need to test those out before you get them in place. Place the washer and the thumb screw over the top of the bracket, just like so. Once you have it there, go ahead and thread it down evenly to secure it in place. Now, this is going to be great for anybody that is looking to clear some space on the inside of their vehicle where you can get a roof cargo bag, you can place all your luggage in there. You can even place your coolers, tents, lawn chairs.
Even your off road auxiliary lights, spare tire, high-lift jacks, shovel, or any of those items on top as well. All right, once we have this nice and secure, making sure that our threads aren’t sticking up too far, that we’ve tightened it down evenly, take your plastic cover. The side with the cut out on it is going to go over the extended flange, here on the end. The other side, with the lock assembly, the plastic lock assembly, is going to go on this side here. Now, note that there is an optional key lock set that you can get as well. It’s all going to be on our website at etrailer.com. Once you have that nice and secure, you’ll be ready to hit the road with your all new Thule Canyon rooftop mounted cargo basket, part number TH859 on our 2015 Dodge Durango..
