Today on our 2012 Dodge Durango we’re doing a test fit of the Rhino Rack Roof Mounted Cargo Basket. That part number is RMCB. Now, this is 47″ long by 35″ wide, and has a 165 pound weight capacity, though you do want to double check your vehicle’s owner’s manual to make sure it can withstand that much weight. We’ve gone ahead and secured down three of our four mounts. We’re going to show you how to secure our back passenger side here. I’m going to start by stepping up onto our vehicle. We’ve got our spacer here in between our crossbar and our cargo basket.

We’re going to take the top bracket, and we’re going to set that in place. We want to push it down so that it secures under these two notches. We’ll then take our lower bracket, we’ll place that underneath and drop our bolts down, make sure they line up with the holes on our lower bracket. Then we’ll just take our included tool and we’ll start to tighten these down. Now one great thing about having this basket is that it’s going to empty up space inside your vehicle and allow you to carry more gear or more passengers. We’re going to have many different tie down points to secure our gear, and at the very front you’ll see our fairing which is going to help to reduce wind noise and drag.

This is going to fit many different types of gear, whether that’s sporting equipment, camping gear, or luggage, and you’ll see especially at the front is that it does fit these factory cross bars. It’s also going to fit different style bars, like your aero bars, round, square, and elliptical. So just making sure to tighten down our bolts completely. Once we have that tightened down we’ll check our hatch clearance back here. You’ll see we have plenty of room. We’re not going to have worry about our hatch door making contact with our basket.

We don’t have to remove our antenna either, so we’re still going to have that full access. Now would be a great time to load up your gear and you’re ready to hit the road.
