Today on our 2015 Dodge Durango, we’re going to be doing a test fit of the Kuat Transfer. This is going to be your platform style, 3-bike rack, part number TS03G. This bike rack does come with 1 1/4 inch, as well as a 2 inch adapter for your class 2 and class 3 receivers. It will not be acceptable or able to use with your class 1 receivers. First off, we’ll start off by getting a few measurements. Closest distance will be from the front side to the back side of the bumper at about 4 1/2 inches. Overall distance that we’ve added to the back of the vehicle from the rear of the bumper to the back of the rack is going to be about 43 inches.

Our rear ground clearance, looks like it’s going to be about 22 3/4 inches. With our bike loaded up on our rack so you can see what it’s going to look like once you have it fully assembled and in place, it’s also going to have a tilt feature while you have your bikes on the rack. Go ahead and press down on the lever and lower it down. This will give us access to that rear hatch so we can get out anything that we may have forgotten or left behind. Once you get everything out that you may need, as you can see you’re going to have plenty of room in between, go ahead and close that up, and we’ll return the rack back to the upright position. When you lift your rack back up into the upright position, never press on your bike to lift it up.

Always make sure that you lift up on the cradle arms themselves. Once you have it back in position, let’s talk about how our bike is secured to our rack. We’re going to have our rear wheel safety strap here in the cradle. Press in the button there to disengage and pull it out. Note that this is quite a long strap, so you can get your bigger-wheel bikes in here as well.

Go ahead and pull it out of the way, and then we’ll move over to the front and take a look at the wheel hook. This wheel hook is going to sit in front of your front brake caliper or front fork, depending on if you have the traditional caliper or more modern disc brakes. Go ahead and press in on the lever here to disengage it and lift it up out of the way. When you put it into place, bring it up right in front of the caliper and then press down until it quits clicking, nice and tight inside the cradle. Go ahead and press down and release it, always making sure that you maintain a good hand hold on your bike. Go ahead and pull our bike off, and return the rack back to the stowed position.

To do so, we’ll reattach that rear strap so we don’t get any dirt, grime, or road debris built up inside, and then bring the wheel hook, bring it down about half way or all the way and tuck it over just like so. This will give us another opportunity to get into our rear hatch without our bike being on a rack, or without the rack being in the stowed position up against the back of the vehicle, which as soon as we close this back up, is going to be the next position we go to. Go ahead and lift that handle one more time, or press down on the handle, excuse me, and raise the rack up to that stowed position tucked up against the back of the vehicle. With that nice and secure, we’ll go ahead and get a few more measurements. Our closest distance is going to be about 2 1/2 inches. Overall distance is going to be about 11 1/4 inches. Our ground clearance is going to be about 12 inches. Now you can see this is going to be nice and sturdy on the back of the vehicle with that anti-rattle bolt. Securing it in that clip on the other side to retain it. The nice thing about that anti-rattle bolt is, the tool that you’re going to need to tighten it is going to be included, which is going to be a nice, shiny, larger diameter Allen wrench. Now that you’ve seen the Kuat Transfer, part number TS03G on our 2015 Dodge Durango, that will complete our test fit for today.
