Today on this 2008 Dodge Durango, we’re going to review and install Westin E Series Round Nerf Bars, part number 23-2630. Now let’s go ahead and take a look at our tube steps once they’re installed. These are custom fit, no-drill application. They make it very easy to get inside your vehicle. These tube steps are going to be 3 inches in diameter. It also applies to the 3 inch wide strip that you step on. This has a stainless steel finish, which will protect the metal and make it last a very long time. Now actually take a look at the ends here, it actually has a curved end that goes underneath the vehicle, so it gives a little bit of the factory look to it. Now we’ll go ahead and show you how we installed them.
It’s actually not too bad of an installation. Before we get started with our install, it’s a good idea to sort out parts. We’re going to do one side at a time, so let’s go ahead and lay out all parts that we get. We got this inaudible 00:00:55 right here, which is labeled for passenger front. This support bar which is also labelled PF for passenger front, and we have our PR for passenger rear. We have our hardware that goes with them.
Now I’ll go ahead and get our Durango ready to install the parts. We’ll remove this body mount bolt right here using 19mm socket. We’re starting on the passenger side at the front. We’ll go ahead and loosen the installer for this bracket passenger front. This came off of the rubber bushing here, so this is actually going to stay on top. We’re going to reuse our factory bolt to go through it and back up.
Get it started just loosely, so you can still move it around as needed. Now let’s go to the back on the passenger side. This came loose, put that back on top, put it back into place. Now a strap is going to use this oval hole in the bottom of the frame and be a support to this bracket right here. To get it ready, we’re going to take our bolt with the tab and the clear shim and just thread them together a little bit, as close as we can, push it up into the frame. Give it a little bit of a twist so it locks into place.
Then we’ll take our bracket and install it on top of our bolt. This part here will go on the inside edge and align up with this hole right here. We’ll leave that loose and this large oval slot will go with this bolt. I’ll loosely install the matching flat washer, lock washer and nut. It should be loose enough where our bracket will align up with this hole. Now we can go ahead and start working with our tube step. Notice they are labeled passenger side and driver side, of course we’re working with our passenger side. I actually like to leave this wrapping on until I’m completely done with it, but I will open up the ends, so they can attach to our brackets. This way when it spills what we need to while we’re putting together and minimize scratching surface. Starting at the back here, we got our hardware ready to go. Put it through the slot, take your tube step and just put it up into place. It’s a good idea to have an extra set of hands to help maneuver it and align it up as well. We’ll just get it started for now, finger-tight. Okay, this is our back, let’s go ahead and do our front the same way. Just remember you’ve got to go through this support bracket and then to our tube step. You want to take a moment and make sure it’s sitting the way you want it and make any adjustments necessary. Yeah, a little bit left to right and up and down. Once you’re satisfied with that, we can go ahead and tighten down our hardware. We’ll hand-tighten this bolt first. Now for this hardware here, we’ll be using a 16mm socket. The hardware here, we’ll be using a 19mm. Dealt with the front, let’s go to the back. This extension component looks like it’s in the way. It is just a little bit, but using a wobble extension gives us enough w
As we uncovered when we added one to our long-lasting fleet, the Dodge Durango GT is a sizable, flexible SUV that’s likewise sportier compared to you could expect. That claimed, with a 295-hp V-6 under the hood, it’s nowhere near as powerful as the Durango SRT 392. But with the brand-new Rallye Look Plan, you could at the very least offer the Durango GT an SRT-inspired look.
Reported today, the Rallye Look Plan uses an extra hostile front end, a sportier hood, and LED foglamps. It may not be required, yet Dodge says the hood scoop and vents are in fact useful. If you tow a whole lot, it probably can not injure.
” A lot of our consumers like the performance look of the Durango R/T and Durango SRT, yet enjoy with the acclaimed Pentastar V-6 engine’s 295 horse power and the superb fuel performance it delivers,” claimed Steve Beahm, FCA’s North American head of automobile, in a release. “This brand-new Durango GT Rallye Look Plan offers those three-row SUV customers the most effective of both globes.”
The Rallye plan is available to buy now for $1,495 and be available in seven different colors. Thinking About the Durango GT starts at $38,990 including destination, that brings the base cost of a Rallye-equipped Durango to $40,485.
