Speaker 1: Today on this 2018 Dodge Durango, we’ll be having a look at, and showing you how to install the Hopkins plugin simple wiring harness for factory tow package vehicles, with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number 41155. Here’s what our wiring looks like installed. As you can see, you can easily store it around your safety chain loops on your hitch, when it’s not in use. Now the reason you’re going to want a wiring harness like this one is because this 4-pole flat connector here gives you the basic lighting functions that are required by law, in order for you to safely and legally tow a trailer.This green wire will provide our necessary right turn signal and right brake light. The yellow wire will provide our left turn signal and left brake light. The brown wire will provide our taillights and running lights.

The white wire will provide the necessary ground connection between our Durango, and our trailer. Now what many of our customers like about this wiring harness, is that there’s no unused connections on it. It simply plugs into our factory tow package connector, and we don’t have any access that we need to worry about protecting from the elements. Also, there’s not a lot of slack in this wiring harness as well. You have just enough to hang it below our hitch, so you don’t have to worry about having an excess amount of the wire dangling below our vehicle.

Now that we’ve gone over some features, we’ll show you how to get it installed.To begin our install, we need to locate our factory tow package connector. That’s behind our fascia, write about in this area here. Here’s the factory connector. We have a black tab to press on right here. We’ll press on this tab.

We’ll pull out the protected plug from our connector. Now we’ll take some dielectric grease, and we’ll put it inside our connector, just to help better protect it from the elements, and any moisture that may occur. We’ll take our wiring harness now, and we’ll plug it into the factory connector, lining up the slots. We’ll push it until it locks into place.We went ahead and zip tied up a small amount of slack here to our factory wiring harness, just so we don’t have any excess wire hanging below our vehicle. Now that we have our wiring installed, we will need to make a trip to our local dealership, in order to have the computer re-flash, to enable our factory tow package connector to work properly.
