Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Dodge Durango, we’re gonna be installing Draw-Tite’s class three two-inch trailer hitch receiver, part number 76196.And this is what our hitch is gonna look like when it’s installed. It’s gonna be completely hidden behind the bumper. You have an access panel here. You simply twist the two knobs at the bottom and you can pull it down. Now you have access to your hitch.This is gonna be a class three, two-inch by two-inch hitch receiver. So it’s gonna be great for all your towing needs, from bike racks to trailers.

It has a bracket welded on it so you can even mount your wiring right to it.It uses a 5/8-inch hitch pin. One doesn’t come included with the hitch, but you can pick one up here at etrailer.com with part number PC3.It uses hoop-style safety chain loops and they have a nice large opening that should accommodate most chains, however your chains are likely gonna rub on the bottom of your bumper here. So you may need to accommodate for that. And it may cause some scratching or damage in there. Now, this is hidden by the cover, so it won’t be really that noticeable, but it is something to keep in mind.It features a 900-pound tongue weight, and that’s the force going down on top of the receiver, and a 6,000 pound gross towing capacity, and that’s how much it can pull behind it.

When using a weight distribution system, the tongue weight’s gonna remain the same, but your gross towing capacity is gonna increase to 7,500 pounds. You do wanna verify in your vehicle’s owner’s manual that you don’t exceed its towing capacities.And now I’ve got some measurements for you to help you when deciding on accessories. From the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube, it measures about 20 1/4 inches. This is important when determining if you need to drop, rise, or raise shank on any of your accessories.And from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, it measures about three inches. This is important when determining if any of your folding accessories can be placed in the upright storage position without contacting the bumper.We’ll begin our installation at the rear of the vehicle, on either the driver or passenger side.

We’re gonna start on our driver side and you’re gonna need an eight millimeter socket ’cause we’re gonna be removing the bolt located here at the bottom.Next we need to drill out the two rivets located just above that bolt. I’ve already got one drilled out. Gonna drill out at the center until it loosens up and it either come out with your drill, if not you can just pull it out or pry it out with a screwdriver.Next we’re gonna remove the bolt here, above our rivets, with a 10 millimeter socket.And we can pull outward on our frame piece now and then we’ll remove the bolt located behind it with a seven millimeter socket. We’ll now repeat this same process on the other side.And now, at the back of the vehicle, we’ve opened up our lift gate and we’re gonna need to remove the bolt located here, just underneath our bumper, with a T-30 torque socket. And we’ll remove the one on the other side as well.There’ll be one more bolt, located underneath.

It’s gonna be slightly on your driver’s side. We’re gonna remove that with a 10 millimeter socket. And you’ll also have one slightly on your passenger’s side.We’ll then pull back on our fascia here on one side, then we’ll go release the other side. Now with both sides released, we’ll come to the center and we’ll roll our fascia backwards and down. And you’ll find here that you may have an electrical connector on your driver side. We’ll need to disconnect that.There’s a release tab here at the top. You’ll just push in on that release tab and then you can pull off this electrical connector. We’ll now set aside our fascia where it won’t get damaged.Next, we’re gonna remove the bolt located here on the underside and inside of our frame. We’re gonna do this with a 21 millimeter socket. You may need a 21 millimeter wrench to get these inside ones out. You could always lower down your spare tire to make it easier so you could use a socket, but a wrench could work just fine.And we’ll remove these bolts on the other side as well.And now we can remove our bumper beam and we can set this aside ’cause we won’t be reinstalling it.We’ll now insert our hitch where we removed our bumper beam.We’re now gonna use our fish wire to get our bolts inside our frame. So we’re gonna start at t
