Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Dodge Durango, we’re going to be taking a look at the best custom fit vehicle wiring. We’re going to have a Tekonsha 7-pole, part number 22113. Here we’re going to have the Curt, part number 56198. And over here, we’re going to have the Tekonsha, part number 118617.Now these two here, your Tekonsha and your Curt, these two are going to be basically just a basic trailer with lights. Whereas, your Tekonsha 7-pole, is going to give you the option to run a trailer that has brakes, or it also comes with a brake controller adaptor, which, if you decide to add a brake controller onto your vehicle, it’ll plug directly into your adaptor, which also plugs into the wiring harness.Your Tekonsha wiring, is going to have a 4.2 amp stop and turn, and a 7.5 on your taillights. Whereas, your Curt is going to have a three amp on your stop and turn, and a six amp for your taillights.
Your Tekonsha’s are going to have 15 amp fuses. Where, your Curt is going to only have a 10 amp fuse. The Tekonsha’s having a higher output, is going to allow you to run more lights off your trailer. Whereas the Curt, will still work, however, the output’s going to be lower.Now, as far as ease of install, your Curt and your Tekonsha 4-pole here, are going to be easier to install, because they’re basically just for a basic trailer lighting. Again, the hook directly on your taillights.
You run your 4-pole out the back, and your power wire up to the front. Whereas your Tekonsha 7-pole, is going to be a little bit more involved. However, it’s going to give you a little bit more versatility with trailer options.All three of these wiring harnesses are going to be similar in the fact that they all hook up the same. They’re all going to hook directly into your taillights. All three are going to be fuse protected.
All three are going to have converter boxes. What the converter boxes are going to do, it’s just taking the signal to run it to your trailer. They’re also going to protect your vehicle from any back feed from your trailer if your trailer has any wiring issues.Now, in summary, both Tekonshas are going to give you a better power output. The Tekonsha 7-pole is going to be more versatile. The Tekonsha and Curt 4-pole, are going to be easier to install.
