Dodge Stratus No Bus Message (update as of 4/11/19, I have not done anything with the Durango over the winter other than starting it every 4 days. In the cold weather the car will either start right away with no problem at all or within 30 seconds to one minute. This really does point to a short in the wire harness. The car runs fine after it starts, but this video shows what I have to do each time I want start the car.
Thinking many things and trying many things… But I keep coming back to the fact I smelled burnt wires as soon as this whole thing first happened. Tomorrow I will dig into the wire harness. I seen a video tonight of a “no bus” problem where the wire harness had a short. I will update when (if) I fix.

It never dies when running. Once the car is engine is running everything is fine. I drove the care for 5 solid hours starting out with moderate county road driving and the NJ turnpike. It also sat an idles for 45 minutes at one point. The ambient temperature was in the mid 80’s. I feel if the engine was going to die from heat this would do it.

The no bus/starting is not as bad during cool dry mornings. A few times (2) I turned the key and the engine started with no waiting. On cool mornings the average wait time for the no bus to disappear is about 1 -2 minutes. But on rainy damp days the wait time is a lot longer. I have waited as long as 52 minutes for the no bus to go away. I will turn the key on for 10 minute intervals. If it doesn’t go away (no bus) I turn the key off for 30 seconds and try again. Eventually it always starts.
This is telling me it is a wiring connection problem. I have searched high & low on the engine harness and I also removed the instrument panel and checked the harness under the dash. Nothing wrong anywhere! Checked all fuses (in car & under the hood) all relays have been checked or replaced and all sensors work fine. Again… once it starts it never stalls and runs fine.
