The new Magnum is a great looking vehicle that will get your next-door neighbors talking as you rumble around the block. The unique styling of the Magnum will also attract gawkers in the type of 18-22 years of age guys pointing for their buddies to “examine that out”. And a few individuals will approach you as you are filling up the gas tank to ask, “Does it actually have a Hemi?”, with only a vague concept that it somehow makes the vehicle much better. The Magnum is used with several engine sizes (either a 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder) with your choice of horsepower output of 190, 250, 340 and 425. The rate of the vehicle also corresponds with the engine size starting at $30,345 to the expensive STR-8 design for $37,320. A huge part of the mystique around this vehicle is the Hemi engine. The Hemi is short for hemispherical combustion chamber, which creates more effective fuel burning and enables larger valves for much better airflow. Generally, it produces more power than an engine with its displacement would generally produce. (There are also downsides to the Hemi, which is why it isn’t the only engine that Chrysler produces). The interior of the vehicle looks a lot more expensive than you ‘d anticipate for the rate of the Magnum. Considering that Mercedes bought Chrysler, the Dodge vehicles I’ve tested have actually had a sharp enhancement in interior quality. While on the road, the vehicle is very strong and the seats are comfy even on long highway runs. As much as I like the looks, after owning it a while I actually have to question the style idea that the Magnum deals. It is a station wagon developed to carry a lot of individuals and a lot of things. But mating this with a powerful engine with the taught racing-like suspension is uneasy for both. It resembles having a Corvette tow a little trailer, and you are in the trailer and the Corvette chauffeur is 15 years-old, pushing the vehicle to its limits. (Only an actual Corvette has a much more comfy suspension than the Magnum). Even owning on smooth roadways, the steering is very darty and tough to control. And with a large vehicle, all that weaving and road feedback is exaggerated for the travelers and everything you’ve stored in the back. I like having a navigation system, but finding out how to use it with the guiding wheel controls made me regularly refer to the user’s manual. In spite of the high horsepower and low-end torque I had fun with when starting from a full stop, the RT design I owned balanced 20 MPG on the higway. What I presume to be the target audience for this vehicle, those 18-22 year-old guys that I mentioned, will probably love this vehicle. And as much as I love owning sports automobiles, the darty steering and sharp suspension make it too uneasy with no incredible reward. The 0-60 sprint is enjoyable for a little while, but I ‘d hand down purchasing a Magnum as an everyday owning vehicle.
