A 2007 Dodge Caliber was crash tested on May 2, 2006 into a fixed deformable barrier at 40.0
mi/h (64.4 km/h) and a 40 percent overlap on the driver side. A Hybrid III 50th percentile male
dummy was positioned in the driver seat with the lap/shoulder belt fastened.

The Dodge Caliber was introduced in the 2007 model year as a replacement for the Dodge Neon.

Measures of intrusion taken after the crash indicated the lower instrument panel in front of the
dummy did not move rearward. Resultant intrusion in the driver footwell measured 2 cm at the
footrest and 8-10 cm at other places on the toepan. All doors remained closed during
the crash. After the crash, all doors opened with ease.

The driver dummy was restrained by a three-point lap/shoulder belt and two airbags, one in the
steering wheel and the other in the knee bolster. During the crash, the dummy’s head moved
forward and loaded the fully inflated frontal airbag. The dummy rebounded rearward until the
rear of the head contacted the upper left portion of the head restraint. After the crash, the upper
end of the steering column had moved forward 5 cm but not upward or downward.

None of the injury measures exceeded published threshold values.
