Welcome to part 3 of our 2002 Jeep Cherokee window module install. In the last video we did the driver front door and now we are going to do the driver side rear door. We will show you how to pull the trim off, run the wiring, pull the door panel off and put everything back together.
First we will continue to remove the trim, we will run the wiring down into this channel. You will pull out another Phillips head screw here and start removing the trim, there is another screw located here behind the seatbelt, there’s a clip that pops off there to access that screw. Then we will start at the bottom rolling it away from the lip to disengage the trim for us. Now we move to the other side and remove a bit more trim. We will pull out the plastic protective cover to give us access to the rubber boot and the electrical harness. Remove the Phillips head screw that’s in the door handle for the rear door and there will be one more screw located behind the door handle. Get your pry bar set (plastic) and start prying the clips off around the door. Disengage the metal rods for the door handle by removing the yellow clip, pushing it out, and pulling the metal rod up. That should release both of those. Undo the window clip. Remove the rubber boot. I want to run my wiring through the clip so I can still use the boot but I have to break away some of the plastic and even use a drill so I am inside the plastic clip and still have my wiring protected by the boot. Now we can run the wires through after we tape it up with electrical tape. Pull out enough slack to reach the destination. Run the wiring through the plastic clip, pull out all the slack, run it through the boot and into the door.
We will also pull the rear speaker so we can find the wiring. See it moving in and pull out the slack. Now put the speaker back in. Make sure those screws are hand tight because if they are loose the speaker will rattle. Take your wire and run it along your other wires and up to connect it to your switch. It is a gray and white wire for the rear window. Then pull out some slack now that it is run the way you want. Reconnect the electrical connection in order to do a quick test. The blue is going to the green on the module for motor side 2. The yellow is run to the white wire on the module labeled switch side 2. Now we will do a quick test before putting everything back together.
Looks like it is working the way it should so we may now reattach our rubber boot and pop our clip back into place. Now we can take out trim and start gently moving that around to get it to clip back to the door and get everything back into place. Now we can get our screws back in and move the seat back. We will put the Phillips head screws back into place and label the wiring for easy access later.
Look for part 4 to see the final part of the installation. I hope this helped you out. Please like, share, and subscribe. Until the next video, happy camping and thanks for watching!
