I was trying to research what the best tires are to run on the drag strip for the Dodge Demon. I kept coming across 3 tires that no one seemed to have the answers to. First was the Mickey Thompsons 305/45R18, which is what most people are using. Next was the Hoosier P325/45R18, and the other was a 17×11 inch wheel by Weld with a Mickey Thompson tire to fit. Other Mopar drag racers recommended a 17×9.5 inch wheel with Mickey Thompsons, but I just did not want to go with that small of tire width. So I decided to do testing on my own with advice from my good friend Elvis Morin, and my cousin Vincent Taylor. I decided to try a 29 inch tall Mickey Thompson tire and 30.25 inch tall Hoosier tire to compare them both with the stock 28 inch Nitto. I also got some advice from Ron from the Hellcat.org forum and Speedy from Speedy’s Garage that the tires may fit but there’s only one way to find out. My buddy Elvis did all the measuring and we figured the Hoosiers would fit so I made the purchase, so we’ll see what happens at the track. What I am trying to achieve is for the car to dead hook while using the Transbrake and torque reserve. To me it doesn’t make any sense for this car to have Transbrake and torque reserve if you can’t get the car to dead hook and take advantage of the drag features installed on the Demon.
