hey guys in this video we show you exactly what we did to remove the upper control arms on our 2012 dodge Charger sxt plus 3.6 v6
at first we noticed there was alot of clunking and rattling on the front passenger tire. after taking the charger to get an alignment the person at the shop recommended we replace the upper control arms first and then bring it back.
so we ordered the parts on ebay. yes we cheaped out and learned these parts only last about a year so if you’re doing the repairs then it’s a good deal. but paying a shop once a year to fix your car is ridiculous.. but quality parts
anyways the parts came in and we started by lifting the vehicle up. adding safety jack stands
disconnect the battery negative terminal
remove the front right passenger wheel
remove the two outer nuts from the upper control arms
slide the pins out to remove upper control arm real easy. you can wiggle the part to create the room necessary to get it out.
then remove the ball joint. if it’s stuck then you will have to hammer it out or use a balljoint removal tool
once that’s done. slide the upper control arm out of its place (if it hasn’t fallen already)
replace it with the new part and follow the steps in reverse procedure
start by sliding the pins in and get the nuts started on the outside but don’t tighten them yet.
get your new balljoint in place and start tightening all bolts down
once that’s done.
connect everything back and put everything where it should be.
put the tire on.
connect the battery and boom you’re done!
